Subject: RE: Triton boats

Trent,

We returned from Texas a couple of weeks ago. We went to Lake Fork for a week in December and also in February.

They were good trips, the weather was a little difficult in December but we caught fish up to 8 lbs. The last day we had over 40 lb. in about two and a half hours (seven fish). That was fun. During the February trip the weather was bad, we were still able to boat one almost 9 lbs. and several more in the 5 to 8 lb. range.

That is enough of the fishing, the real reason for this e-mail is to express my sincere appreciation for my TR21X. It is an outstanding boat. The second trip in Feb. there were two really windy days. The first windy day, they had issued area lake warnings, on Lake Fork this means you better ramp hop and stay in the creeks. However, the areas we were fishing were only accessible via main lake. So we were forced to run open water. The boats performance was outstanding. The ride was better than any boat I have owned in the past, Stratos 201 Pro Elite, 200 Pro XL and Hydro Sport. I have fished tournaments to extreme in the past which has allowed me to ride in about any type of boat on the market. The TR21X is the best performing boat, period.

The next day, the wind was 35 MPH with 45 MPG gust. Texas “Red Flag Day”. We started out at daylight wanting to fish the same area and then head for the dock and ramp hop in the afternoon. We started out at daylight but we stayed longer than we intended, so at lunch we were ready to head to the boat ramp and move to a more protected area. I planed out in the creek and when we hit the main lake the waves were about 4 to 5 ft. swells. We ran it with no problem, the swells were so far apart that occasionally the boat would leave the water and land on the next swell, the hull cuts the water extremely well. It does not land hard like other boats, it gently sits back down in the water and you continue on your way. We were running 40 to 50 mph. in this water.

One we had ran farther down lake the water was getting worse. I did not really pay attention to just how big the swells had become. I had to make a right hand turn, again I did not really notice at first but when I turned I realized that the waves were now approaching six ft.. I stayed in the throttle, the boat launched off of one wave and when it came down it landed on top of the next six foot wave about midway under the boat, right under the cockpit. Because I was turning the boat did not land flat, it came down to the right side of center, so the “V” of the bottom did not contact the water first to cut the wave. Needless to say this was a jarring experience. The boat almost came to a complete stop. I got back in the throttle to get the nose back up and increased speed to ride back up to the top of the waves. Once back on top we were able to run 30 to 35 mph. until we got back to the ramp area.

I was really aggravated with myself for not paying better attention to water conditions. I have driven boats for over 20 years, you should always respect mother nature. The boat protected us from my lack of attention, these water conditions for sure could have sank a boat. The TR21 X outperformed any boat I have driven or ridden in. At the ramp I did a close inspection

for cracks, stress fractures, etc.. Both of my Startos’s had stress crack from conditions less severe than what I put this Triton through. Thankfully the engineer’s at Triton have over engineered this boat. There is no such stress cracks in this boat, So not onlydid it take care of the occupants in also shows no evidence of the occurrence. It will certainly stand up to anything I can put it through.

When I get time to go fishing I want to go, sometimes the weather conditions are less than favorable, but I did not buy a boat to letit sit because the weather is not favorable.

This boat is safe, when you leave the dock you have the confidence that it will get you back, regardless of what mother nature sends your way.

Thanks for selling boats that are far above the competition.

Sincerely,
Reuben Byrom

Trent,
Jjust a word to let you know the Triton made it safely to SC by 11 o'clock Monday night. We stopped in Knoxville and had supper with an old Army buddy I'd not seen in 41 years. We got the boat on Lake Murray for the 1st time this afternoon & it did just fine. It'll take a little time & experience to get completely comfortable with it, but I'm very pleased. I also want to tell you how much we enjoyed the trip & dealing with all of you there in Franklin. We felt like we'd been treated fairly & courteously by everyone there.

Thanks again,

Trent,
Thanks for helping us out with the golf scramble we're doing for the band over at IHS. I've been meaning to send you a testamonial email about how awesome the boat is you sold us. The first time me and my youngest daughter Erin took it to Priest, we saw a man and his wife who were just coming off the lake. They had just bought a TR-176 from Clark and I've never seen anybody with a bigger smile on their face (except maybe us)! They sang Clark's praises! Last week me and Erin went on her first bass fishing trip back to Priest and I can truly say that it was the best time fishing I've ever had. She caught her first bass (almost caught more than me) and is hooked! I've got the best fishing buddy I'll ever have. Thanks for the boat and all the great times I'll be able to share with my kids. I'll recommend Clark to all my friends!

Stuart Fraser and Staff,

We purchased our Triton 175 in July of 2005.  It has proven to be the best rig we have bought and we have had several boats with varied configurations.  The 90 hp four-stroke Mercury is quiet but powerful and moves the boat along at 40 mph very nicely.  I want to thank you and all the staff for the professional and courteous manner in which you conduct business.  Many years ago when I went to buy my first automobile, my father advised me to carefully check out the dealer because “no product is any better than the person who sold it to you.”  All things human and mechanical will at some time break down, then what?  You have seve ral good men who do know how to diagnose and repair about everything.  Joe amazes me.  He eliminates one problem at a time until he finds the right solution.  Joe and Barry have assisted me in several ways with this rig as well as one other new one (Triton 173 aluminum) we purchased there and two used rigs that I brought there for service before buying our first new one.  The Lowrance LMS 332c is now working beautifully, thanks to Joe.  It provides a vast amount of information.  The Clark and Fraser families along with the staff at Clark Marine are good friends to all sportsmen.

Thank you,
Jim & Faye Yates

Dear Mr. Frazier,

We were in the market to purchase a new boat and we were very interested in a Fish n Ski boat. We visited the annual boat show here in and found that the Triton SF-211 was just the boat for us. We met with the local salesperson and did not get a “good” feeling about the way he was operating. We did not feel comfortable meeting with him and felt that he was not very truthful and honest. We started looking for another dealer locally and in other areas of the United States. Clark Marine was one of the dealers we called.

Trent Petersen spoke with us over the phone and right away we had a good feeling about him. He seemed like a very genuine individual and it proved to be so as we worked through the purchase. Trent took the time to answer all our questions over the phone and very often followed up with emails. He was extremely patient and never pressured us. If he didn’t know an answer to a specific question, he would research it instead of just saying “yeah, we can do that”. He gave us very sound advice and made very good suggestions on alternatives that he thought would be a better “fit” for us. We never felt that his only consideration was the purchase price but rather we felt that he always kept our best interest at heart. He was very concerned with helping us outfit the boat for maximum comfort and performance so that we would enjoy it for years to come.

Even though we have never met Trent face to face and we are over 1600 miles apart, Trent was always very approachable and responsive. We appreciated his honesty, his integrity and his willingness to go beyond what was required for the sale. Over the course of the purchase, we felt that we were dealing with a “friend” in TN. We have to say that we have never dealt with a sales person quite like Trent! So many people have asked us why in the world we would buy a boat from a dealer in Tennessee when there is one right here in town. Well, the answer is Trent Petersen and Clark Marine Sales.

We are extremely happy with our new boat. It is just what we have been looking for!! We just wanted to take a moment to thank Trent and to let you know what an outstanding Manager you have working for your dealership!!

Sincerely,

Dave and Mary Strickler

Trent,
This note is well overdue so please forgive me for it's tardiness. I simply wanted to let you know that I really like my boat and am looking forward to many good times/days in it.
I recently spoke with Mary Jane regarding some paperwork that I needed and she has been most helpful. I spoke to her again today and I'm forwarding a document that needs your signature before she mails it on to Triton Boats. Thanks to you both for that.
In closing, I wanted to tell you that I have been very impressed with your professional and courteous dealings with me during this entire process. I truly hope that we have the opportunity to do business together again in the future.

Stuart

I just received the “Thank You Note” you had sent after I purchased the new Mercury 25hp outboard. I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your help and perfect service. I have finally put a small boat on the water after 17 years of smallmouth fishing waist deep in creeks. But as all addicted fisherman I will probably be upgrading boats in the not so distant future and I will be coming to Clark Marine for the purchase. Thank you again…..

Email sent to HomeTownBoatShow.com

I have not purchased as of yet. Plan to with the next 30 days. At this point the decision is between a Triton SFb21 and the Strattos 290.

Frankly, the Triton dealer, Clark Marine has been very responsive to all my questions and very prompt on follow-up and answers. Extremely professional. I can not say the same for your two Strattos dealers in this area.

Bottom Line is that I want to put a wake board tower on the boat I purchase. Triton offers it as an option and it is factory installed with warranty due to the reinforcements that are made to the hull to accommodate the tower. When I asked your two dealers about it they come back with, well………we have a ski bar and that will work just as well. Obviously they do not have a clue about wake boarding if they come back with that reply.

I have asked both Strattos dealers if a wake board tower can be added to the boat and both have said YES. But, when I ask if it is factory installed I get no response, or I get, I don’t think so but let me check and they follow up with the factory and call me back. Needless to say, I have not heard from them. Also, as a result, if I do have to install it myself the hull is not reinforced and there is no warranty as it is an after-market item. Not sure if I am willing to take that chance.

If you want to look into this for me and get back with some answers this would be nice because as it is now, I am leaning heavily toward the Triton even though the price on the Strattos is more in line what I was thinking about spending. Plus the Strattos is an inch wider and 4 inches longer. I have a large family so the more room the better.

Thank you
James Denning

Trent,

The prop is absolutely in new condition. Can I bring the prop by Saturday Morning and swap it for a 26P Trophy? I do not need to borrow one I am sure this is the way to go since everyone suggests a 26P Trophy. After I run the 26 this weekend I should be able to make a decision on what free prop to get from Mercury. I am thinking about the 26 Tempest I do not want to lose too much holeshot. With the 24 the boat launches out of the water like a missile.

As far as the panel, I would like to wait maybe a month or so to see if any other minor problems arise before I bring the boat in.

I will be sure to tell all of my friends what a pleasure it is doing business with you. I know some are disgruntled with the service they receive at other dealerships.

Thanks again,
Jeff Du Puy

Trent,

I just wanted to say thanks for everything. You guys were great! I took the Allison out for my maiden voyage the day after I left with it. WOW!!
I am going to love this boat. It is going to take me a little seat time to get to where I can drive it right, but I seem much improvement before the days end. I did have a big scare at the end of the day. I ran out of gas so I went and got more. When I tried to re-start the boat, it sounded terrible. I have never heard a motor sound so sick, I thought for sure it was trashed. I took it to the guys house who I told you about letting me drive his. He did several tests such as compression, spark, and stuff like that, then finally found that the flywheel was loose. He torqued it back down and it was fine. I would never had believed that something as simple as a nut that wasn’t tight could have made that motor sound like that. Anyway, thanks again for everything. I have nothing but good to say about Clark Marine and if anyone gets interested in my trade in, don’t hesitate to have them call me and I will recommend the boat. I would also like to say some kind words about your mechanics. I talked to a couple them while they were looking at my boat, and they answered a lot of questions for me. With the exception of Bank One, this was by far the most pleasurable experience I have ever had when making a major purchase.

Trent,
You guys are great!!  I could not ask for a better group to deal with and you have been that way from start to finish.  This is how folks want to be treated and the kind of business that will bring me back for sure.  I hope I can refer some customers your way because I can honestly say that I have not dealt with anyone as efficient and pleasant as you folks there at Clark Marine.  The dealers out west could certainly learn a few things from you guys.  I look forward to staying in contact with all of you and hopefully coming out for more visits.  If you ever want to come out here I will be more than happy to show you our lake and point you to the elk in the high country.  Don't sweat the key issue as I am sure I can get one made here locally.  Again, thank you and everyone there for making this easy.
Sincerely......
Pat McCormick
